India Summer Fellow, 2026

Sebastian is a rising second-year in the College from outside of Boston, intending to major in history and economics. His Peruvian background augments his interest in confronting the challenges of development for emerging economies while prioritizing sustainability and equity. At the University of Chicago, Sebastian is involved with Fed Challenge and the Neighborhood Schools Program, and enjoys attending meetings of the UC Geography Club and Transit Enthusiasts Club. In his free time he likes to read—in preparation for India he is making his way through Shattered Lands—visit museums, and listen to music around campus.

He participated in the India Summer Fellows Program in summer 2026.

“I greatly enjoyed the meaningful seminars taught by experienced faculty across disciplines. But perhaps the most learning happened outside the classroom: probing those faculty members about their lectures during breaks for chai; observing heritage climate adaptations in Ahmedabad’s walled city on an evening sightseeing trip; asking hard questions to stubborn government officials. It was a great privilege to join a driven group in learning about our greatest collective challenge and the steps necessary to counteract it in a place where it might matter most—and where much is already being done.”
